Does anyone like ff13
Can anyone else tell me what else there's supposed to be that you're missing out from on open world? I guess not. It's just pooly and awkwardly paced, like the developers realized they had a 20 hour game that they wanted to stretch over many more hours. A bit off topic but I don't think ever saw so many people together praising XII.
It warms my heart. Never understood all the negativity surrounding it, I can see why the dialogue and some of the interactions in the game might be a bit awkward to people who aren't Japanese from Japan not of asian heritage. But that can't be enough to ruin the entire thing, take whatever I say with a grain of salt though I live under a rock with an earthworm named Jim. It has the best battle system in the series by a long shot and the job system is the best one ever seen in a jrpg.
Also it was the first FF to have scene skip, so it's not like you're forced to watch the terrible stuff. Ironically the game got better after you finished it and went back to the open areas. Not the worst FF in my eyes at least. Although I do congratulate them for finally finding someone more annoying than Vaan, yes Hope, I mean you. At least he wasn't the main character, but I honestly don't understand Japan's obsession with young characters like this. Completely unlikable on every level and he played much too big a part in the game.
The west learned their lesson after Wesley Crusher. Never played it, never will. Horrible story telling. The creators hyped up the story so much and how it was a major focal point of the game during its development, so you would think that they would at least try to tell the thing.
Doing away with any and all exposition and omitting large portions of VITAL information is a major misstep. Instead of working this into the narrative they give it to you in a series of text files that are just part of the game's menu.
It isn't even integrated into the world. Bad characters. When I say bad I mean, like, the cast of Jersey Shore are more endearing and likable. The only exception to this was Sazh, because he was the only character that I would be comfortable saying was dynamic.
Everyone else was either just flat or dynamic in the sense that they were annoying in so many different ways, and on so many different levels, that it was just absurd.
It is like they consulted George Lucas for character ideas, based solely on his success on finding a way to make people finally hate Star Wars. It was a never ending hallway.
With something like Uncharted this doesn't become as great of an issue, because while you are having your shootouts with enemies you are also advancing forward at the same time. Then you have the terrain traversal stuff. True, you can only jump from specific ledge to another very specific ledge, but the idea that you are climbing across this "hallway" is hidden by the fact that you are actively using one of the game's key mechanics.
Simply pushing the joystick up isn't as involving and exciting. So you fight it, win, and proceed to run forward some more. Mkilbride View Profile View Posts. If you're just going to come in with a snappy reply, or a witty comment, please don't bother. The combat system isn't exactly amazing. But hell, neither are any of the others. FF12 plays itself.
FF's are just press X, much like people say about this game - little strategy needed there beyond grinding and then just using powerful attacks to kill an enemy. So gameplay, no. As for Linear.. Airships driving around the world does not make the game non-linear.
That happens here as well. Just like all FF"s, you need to progress down a path. I really like Lightning. I find her interesting, cool. She pulls off sexy without dressing like a skank, and she's believably strong. I find Snow really good, his love for Serah and his quest believable and emotional. Their love works out well, even if I the whole time I do scratch my head because Snow looks like he's 35 and Serah and is It still works.
Well, we all know Hope. He's better than Vaan I'll just say that. Sazh is funny, horribly racist character, but funny because of that. Vanille for me is neutral. I don't know. I don't feel she's a bad character, but neither do I exactly jump for joy at her character. I feel it's a rather common one in RPGs.
The "I'm strong because I am in touch with my feelings, character. To be honest I didn't spend enough time with her, I only made hit to her before my game got stolen. TBD on that then. The story was interesting to the part I made it to, I hadn't become dis-interested.
I liked the story, the general atmosphere. The music was exciting. I prefer 8 over 7, due to the story. I prefer 10 the most at current. Mainly cause Auron. This makes for an excellent basis for character development, rather than having the usual static righteous character model. I remember being struck by how important the theme of choice would become after the battle with Cid Raines.
And how the characters would have a certain veneration for those whose motivations become understood. And these characters, as mentioned above, are abrogations and transformations of the typical characters and plots. Of course, much is to be said about the game's vast and consistent lore.
As for the most important aspect of this point, the plot is followable and not convoluted and nonsensical, as I find in many, many Japanese RPGs and anime.
The idea that this game is not a "Western" game makes no difference to me. It is simply a GOOD game. Which leads to my last idea. The localization of this game is absolute genius for my Western sensibilities. I love my characters and stories well-written, and these guys did not hold back. They seemed to put extra effort in even the smallest of details and words. Has anyone here read any of the FAQs here that reference the Japanese version of the game?
Notice what the direct translations they used were? Instead of Whitewood, it is forest. Attacker instead of Commando?
These guys could have gone the more direct route of translation, but they came up with classic and original names instead. This is the real stuff of fantasy world-building! I wonder, do the paradigm terms sound as typical in the original Japanese to a Japanese speaker? The English location names and paradigm terms and weapon names are just rad! Thanks for the great question,. User Info: Ecclesiastes I liked the part where Snow got catfished by Dysley. I also liked the parts where Sazh didn't move and act like he was I really liked the part where Hope tries to solo a mech and gets owned.
The execution was actually really good. If you're gonna throw gameplay prompts up during a cutscene, this is how you do it. I enjoyed the bit where Lightning told Snow to get out of her house.
The homeowner leverage was real. I loved that moment when Snow embraced his nonsense and morphed into a late 80s action hero who eats bullets and throws out more DPS than the glass cannon he's escorting. My favorite part is where Snow did nothing wrong and he apologizes anyway to assert his dominance over the weak people around him. It's like he turned the final rap battle of 8 Mile into a lifestyle. Your move, sucker. Stop reporting each other.
Go post in other topics and chill. User Info: GuiltyCrown. The battle system. It takes more than simple cure-attack to beat the game.
User Info: Carmelo. First off I agree with you completely about the art direction of the game. Simply running through the breathtaking environments and listening to the music is enough for me to actively enjoy. I think I once spent 5 mins in Truthseekers Rise literally staring at the scenery and Titan off in the distance, just in awe of the beautiful models.
But what really makes it for me is, layered on top of that, is a set of gameplay and design decisions that were basically hand-picked for me to enjoy.
Firstly the combat system is hands down the most engaging and skillful combat system I have ever personally played. I LOVE the fact that grinding to become OP is essentially a non factor, if you understand the system and are smart with your strategies. In fact I wish every game ever had this philosophy when it comes to combat. Secondly, the pacing is top notch and perfectly balanced.
